We are excited to report that the 5th Civic Development Preconference will be held before the Society for Research in Child Development conference in Montreal this spring. It will be on Wednesday March 30th from 2 – 5 at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel.
This year we will discuss “big issues” in civic development research and application, such as civic purpose and how civic identity relates to multiple other identities (such as political, moral, ethnic and national identity) especially among diverse populations of youth. We will discuss how to move the field forward theoretically and through empirical studies and how to foster civic development in practice. We will also discuss new methods for studying civic development. The session will include remarks by senior scholars and an opportunity for emerging scholars to present and get feedback on their work through small group discussions. The meeting will also serve as a forum for researchers and practitioners to connect, network, and engage in collaborative discussion.
If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] or write to Parissa Jahromi at [email protected].
Looking forward to a great preconference gathering!
More details and a registration form are coming soon.
